Baseball Legend Chipper Jones Extends Olive Branch To Joey Logano After Texas Win

Just one week after criticizing Joey Logano’s heated radio communications at Talladega Superspeedway, baseball Hall-of-Famer Chipper Jones struck a more conciliatory tone following Logano’s victory in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Logano, who rallied late in the race to secure his first win of the 2025 season, received praise from Jones on social media, a stark contrast to the pointed comments he had made just a week earlier.

“Congratulations to (Joey Logano),” Jones wrote on X. “A HOF (Hall-of-Fame) driver with a masterful win. This is what NASCAR fans expect from you. Hard charging wins and gracious top 5s and 10s. Well done!”

The complimentary message marked a significant shift from Jones’ previous stance, where he had taken issue with Logano’s harsh critiques of his Team Penske teammate Austin Cindric following a lost stage win at Talladega. Logano, who learned of Jones’ initial outburst after the race, had expressed surprise at the baseball legend’s comments.

However, Jones made it clear that his change in tone was not a case of backpedaling, but rather an appreciation for Logano’s impressive performance and sportsmanship at Texas Motor Speedway.

“Backpedaling? No,” Jones wrote. “Appreciating a great race and sportsmanship. HOFers are always held to a higher standard and should be.”

Jones, a self-professed NASCAR fan, is no stranger to the world of professional sports, having enjoyed a long and storied career with the MLB’s Atlanta Braves.
